A section of Ridout Street was closed late Wednesday afternoon while crews responded to a natural gas incident in the area.
According to officials with the London Fire Department, a natural gas leak was detected on Ridout Street near Craig Street at around 4:30 p.m.
Several homes in the area were evacuated and London Transit brought in buses to temporarily shelter residents.
Once Enbridge arrived, gas was shut off to the area and residents were cleared to return to their homes.
Fire crews started to clear the scene at around 5 p.m., while London police remained on scene to assist Enbridge while they worked on repairs.
No details on what may have caused the leak have been released.
