A woman in her 80s and a man in his 60s are the latest casualties of the COVID-19 pandemic in the London area.
The Middlesex London Health Unit reported their deaths on Monday, making them the 251st and 252nd deaths of the pandemic. Neither the woman or the man were associated with a long term care in the region.
The health unit reported 14 new cases on Monday, bringing the total since March of 2020 to 14,748. Of those cases, 14,373 are considered resolved. There are currently 123 active cases in London and Middlesex County.
The London Health Sciences Centre says it is caring for 19 COVID-19 patients. That figure is unchanged from Friday. Of the 19, ten are in the adult intensive care unit and five or fewer are admitted to Children's Hospital. The LHSC says five or fewer are in the ICU at Children's Hospital.
In Elgin and Oxford counties, there was one death reported Monday. A man in his 80s in Elgin County is the 96th person in the Southwestern Public Health region to die of COVID-19. Seventy-one new cases were reported by Southwestern Public Health on Monday. That total covers a few days worth of new cases, since SPH does not release reports on weekends.
Ontario reported 627 new cases on Monday. Health Minister Christine Elliott says there are 136 people in general hospital wards being treated for COVID-19. There are 132 people in intensive care.
