Shoppers will be able to do more than just cross people off their gift giving list at Masonville Place mall this holiday season.
The Middlesex London Health Unit has announced it will be holding a walk-in pop-up COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the shopping centre throughout the month of December.
"Our goal is to make it as easy and convenient as possible for families to protect themselves from COVID, all while they get their holiday shopping done,” said Maureen MacCormick, the health unit's vaccine clinic chief of operations. “We hope that with easier access to the vaccine, we will get even better coverage and uptake, especially now that children between the ages of five and 11 are now eligible."
Prior to the start of the school year in September, a similar pop-up vaccination clinic was held at the north-end mall. More than 2,200 doses were administered during its run.
The new clinic is located on the lower level beside Sketchers and is accessible through the Entrance 6 doors, next to Thaifoon restaurant. It opens at noon on Wednesday and will run until December 31. Those eligible for a first, second or booster dose of the vaccine will be able to get it through the clinic between 12 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday to Friday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
"We hope that with the larger space and longer hours, parents will find it accessible and children and guests of all ages will feel welcome,” said Masonville General Manager Sandra Lorentiu.
