Middlesex County has a new warden.
Thames Centre Mayor Alison Warwick was sworn into the new role at Thursday night's inaugural county meeting. She was voted into the top job by her council colleagues.
Warwick takes over from Cathy Burghardt-Jesson, the mayor of Lucan Biddulph, who held the job in 2020 and 2021.
"Thank you to my colleagues for this vote of confidence. I am honoured to represent the residents of Middlesex County as warden," Warwick said in a statement. "I am looking forward to moving Middlesex County forward in all areas, with a special focus on community and regional transit; rural broadband; and rural education."
Warwick has been in municipal government since first being elected in Thames Centre in 2014. Four years later, she was voted mayor of the municipality.
"I am confident under her leadership that the county will continue to thrive and move forward for the betterment of our residents,” said Burghardt-Jesson.
Warwick will preside over her first regular council meeting next Tuesday.
