Fraudulent online bingo leads to charges against three women

Charges have been laid against three southwestern Ontario women accused of running an unauthorized online bingo lottery.

St. Thomas police began investigating after the family of a woman who lost $5,000 in the game reported it.

"Police confirmed the three organizers were not licensed with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario and the online bingo was fraudulent," police said.

A 53-year-old Strathroy woman was arrested on Wednesday night. She is charged with one count each of fraud under $5,000 and operating an unauthorized lottery.

A 62-year-old Strathroy woman and a 61-year-old Rodney woman are wanted by way of warrant on the same charges.
