Arson suspect tasered after threatening police with scissors

A man accused of setting fire to a vehicle and threatening London police officers with a pair of scissors is now facing charges.

Emergency crews were called to the vehicle fire on Wellington Road east of Bradley Avenue just after 10 p.m. on Monday. When London police approached a man who had taken off from the vehicle, he is alleged to have pulled out a pair of scissors.

The man refused to drop the weapon and was tasered by officers, police said.

No injuries were reported and the fire was extinguished by firefighters.

A 34-year-old London man is charged with arson causing damage to property, possession of a weapon, and resisting arrest. He was scheduled to appear in London court in relation to the charges on Tuesday.
