As Londoners continue to give generously to help Ukrainians displaced by the Russian invasion, the London Ukrainian Centre has outlined new priority items it's hoping to collect.
The updated list of humanitarian aid needs was posted to social media late Wednesday.
Officials at the centre located at 247 Adelaide Street South, stated the most highly sought after items are first aid kits, personal protective equipment, tents, wool blankets, non-perishable food items, baby food, personal and feminine hygiene products, disposable plates and cutlery, and water purification tablets.
Donations can be dropped off at the centre from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
The centre is also collecting financial donations that will be used to buy bulletproof vests and helmets. Cash donations are being accepted at the centre's Ukrainian Credit Union and money transfers can be sent to info@londonukrainiancentre.ca.
Officials have clarified that they are currently not collecting clothing, shoes or diapers.
More than a million people have fled from Ukraine since Russia began its attack a week ago. The United Nations has called it the swiftest refugee exodus of this century.
Canada's federal government has vowed to match all donations for the Ukraine humanitarian crisis made through the Canadian Red Cross. Last week, the provincial government announced it's providing $300,000 to the Canada-Ukraine Foundation for humanitarian aid, including providing medical aid, emergency shelter and food security.
