Health unit to re-open vax clinic at White Oaks Mall

With the COVID-19 virus continuing to spread in the community, the Middlesex London Health Unit is re-opening its vaccination clinic at White Oaks Mall.

The walk-in clinic will re-open this Thursday and be open Thursday-to-Saturday for the rest of the month of April. The hours of operation will be 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. The health unit previously had a clinic at the mall that saw nearly 6,000 doses given between September 14 and October 10.

"The success of our mall-based clinics has shown that providing the COVID-19 vaccine in a convenient and accessible retail setting is an effective way to reach people who may not have been able to attend one of our mass vaccination clinics,” said Medical Officer of Health Dr. Alex Summers. “As cases in our community start to rise, the protection provided by a full series of vaccine, and a booster dose for those who are eligible, is an important way to remain protected from severe illness. This is especially important with the recent lifting of masking requirements and capacity limits.”

The clinic will offer shots to anyone five years of age and older, those who require booster doses, and those who haven’t been able to be vaccinated because of barriers like convenience, availability, and transportation challenges. It will located next to the Tim Hortons near the food court.

“White Oaks Mall is pleased to assist the Middlesex-London Health Unit in making vaccines easy and accessible for our community,” saids White Oaks Mall General Manager Jeff Wilson. “The White Oaks Mall clinic will provide a convenient vaccination option for many people in the City of London, as well as visitors from the surrounding communities who visit our shopping centre.”

The most recent figures from the Middlesex London Health Unit show 90.1 per cent of the population five years of age and older have received at least one dose of vaccine. Eighty-eight per cent have been fully vaccinated, while 55.4 per cent of the population that is 12 years old or older has received a third dose.
