Impaired driving charge laid after vehicle hits parked police cruiser

A 50-year-old driver is accused of impaired driving after allegedly causing a crash and then hitting a parked police cruiser in Woodstock.

Woodstock police said an officer saw the driver of a vehicle cause a collision on Norwich Avenue just before 2 p.m. on Sunday. The officer tried to stop the vehicle, which then allegedly reversed into another vehicle before hitting the parked police cruiser.

A 50-year-old Woodstock woman was arrested. She was taken to hospital for assessment and has since been charged with driving while impaired by alcohol and drugs, failure or refusal to comply with demand, and driving with the seatbelt assembly removed.

No other injuries were reported.
