London police have arrested a male suspect after gunfire reportedly rang out in east London on Wednesday afternoon.
At around 1:30 p.m., officers were called to the scene of Edmonton Street near Hilton Avenue after they received a call from a concerned citizen who told police they heard gunshots near the area.
A heavy police presence was seen in the area and the public was asked to avoid the scene while they investigated. Officers have since recovered a firearm and have taken a man into custody.
Police say there is no threat to public safety and there have been no reported injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
