Seven charged in south London weapons probe

Police have charged over half a dozen people, including a 14-year-old, in a weapons bust in south London.

Officials with the London Police Service announced the charges Thursday afternoon following a search warrant at a home on Stroud Crescent on May 24.

During the search, investigators reportedly seized several items including three replica firearms, a loaded, sawed-off shotgun with the serial number removed, and a conducted energy weapon (taser).

Officers subsequently laid charges against a group of seven men and women between the ages of 14 and 29-years-old.

The group is jointly charged with:

• Careless use/storage of a firearm. • Careless use/storage of ammunition. • Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm without a licence and registration certificate. • Possession of a prohibited/restricted weapon or device knowing no authority. • Possession of a loaded regulated firearm. • Possession of a firearm with an altered serial number.

The 14-year-old faces an additional three charges of failing to comply with a release order.

Police are not releasing any names of those accused to prevent from potentially identifying the teen charged. The group is expected to each make separate court appearances at a late time.

The investigation is ongoing.
