A transgender activist and well-known Twitch streamer from London says she and her followers have succeeded with shutting down a website, she claims led to her personal information being doxxed several times.
Clara Sorrenti, known as Keffals on social media, and a team she's organized, have spent the last several weeks working to get Kiwi Farms, a controversial online forum, off of the internet. On Monday, Sorrenti shared via Twitter that Cloudflare, an American content delivery network (CDN), had dropped Kiwi Farms as a customer.
Cloudflare founder Matthew Prince also confirmed that it has blocked the website.
"This is an extraordinary decision for us to make and, given Cloudflare's role as an Internet infrastructure provider, a dangerous one that we are not comfortable with," Prince said in a statement over the weekend. "However, the rhetoric on the Kiwifarms site and specific, targeted threats have escalated over the last 48 hours to the point that we believe there is an unprecedented emergency and immediate threat to human life unlike we have previously seen from Kiwifarms or any other customer before."
After it was dropped by Cloudflare, Sorrenti said the site came back online with a Russian-based domain with DDoS (distributed denial-of-service) guard. Ddos-guard.net subsequently Kiwi Farms citing that the website violates its acceptable use policy.
"Our team will monitor the vestiges of Kiwi Farms in the coming weeks and months," Sorrenti said in a statement on Twitter. "It is highly unlikely that Kiwi Farms will resurface with enough resources to maintain the online presence they once had."
Sorrenti added that the website may not ever be fully deplatformed and it could continue to pop up through other servers.
All this stems from a series of incidents that happened back in late July and August when Sorrenti was doxxed and swatted which resulted in her being confronted by police in Toronto and London over threats towards politicians made by individuals claiming to be her.
Sorrenti has since left Canada in an effort to keep herself safe from additional doxxing, which is when she initiated a campaign to deplatform Kiwi Farms.
"What we have accomplished in such a short time has never been done before in the entire history of the internet," Sorrenti said. "The countless victims of Kiwi Farms can sleep soundly knowing that the site is doomed, will never regain it's former momentum and will continue to bleed followers and become more and more irrelevant with each passing week."
