Hydro pole broken, road closed after crash on Highbury

London police have closed a stretch of Highbury Avenue after a crash took out a hydro pole in the area.

Emergency crews responded to a reported crash along Highbury Avenue at Langmuir Avenue sometime around 6 p.m. Wednesday after a vehicle crashed into a hydro pole in the area.

Police say the driver suffered minor injuries during the crash. The investigation is ongoing.

Officers have since closed the north and southbound lanes on Highbury Avenue between Florence and Brydges streets. London police say the closure will likely last most of the night. The public is asked to avoid the area.

The outage map on London Hydro's website indicates a small power outage in the area that has impacted less than 50 customers. Hydro officials estimate power will be restored to the area by 1 a.m. Thursday.
