Driver clocked going nearly twice the speed limit in St. Thomas

St. Thomas police have put the brakes on a driver caught travelling at nearly twice the posted speed limit within the city.

Officers clocked a vehicle doing 103 kilometres/hour in a posted 60 kilometres/hour zone on Talbot Street Wednesday.

After the vehicle was stopped, police discovered the 20-year-old behind the wheel was not fully licenced and was required to have a fully licenced driver in the vehicle with them.

The 20-year-old has since been charged with stunt driving and being a G1 driver unaccompanied by a qualified driver.

The vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
