Two schools in Dorchester were put in "hold and secure" for an active investigation Thursday.
Just before 3 p.m. , Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) issued a statement on Twitter that said officers with the Middlesex County detachment, along with Waterloo Regional Police (WRPS) officers, are assisting with a "hold and secure" at Lord Dorchester Secondary School and other area elementary schools in the area.
The OPP said multiple officers were in the area conducting an investigation, with the "hold and secure" being put in place as a precaution.
Just before 7 p.m., police announced all hold and secures had been lifted.
"A very big thank you to [Thames Valley District School Board] for the assistance and to all the families impacted. Waterloo PS will continue the investigation," OPP said in an updated tweet.
Earlier on Thursday, WRPS tweeted that officers were called to Weber Street East and Montgomery Road in Kitchener for a robbery. A police spokesperson with Waterloo police confirmed to London News Today that the investigation in Kitchener led police to Dorchester.
Waterloo police have not yet shared whether charges have been laid in the investigation.
