Man charged in sudden death investigation dating back to 2020

Strathroy-Caradoc police have laid charges in a sudden death investigation involving a man who passed away over two years ago.

In July 2020, police were called to investigate the death of a 49-year-old man in Strathroy. A post-mortem examination determined the man died of a fentanyl overdose.

Through an investigation, police have since identified a suspect who they believe gave the victim the lethal drug.

Officers have identified the accused as 49-year-old John Lalonde. He faces charges of manslaughter and causing death by criminal negligence. Lalonde is scheduled to appear in court on February 1, 2023.

Anyone with information about the investigation is asked to call the Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service at 519-245-1250 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
