UPDATE: Murder charge laid in death of man in Old East

London police say a man is charged with murder after the death of a man in Old East Village.

Officers conducting a welfare check on Queens Avenue east of Elizabeth Street found the body of a man Thursday.

"The death was deemed to be suspicious in nature, and the investigation was reassigned to members of our Major Crime Section," Constable Sandasha Bough said in a statement Friday morning.

The victim has been identified as Craig Alan Jacobs, 65, of London.

On Friday afternoon, police announced that a charge had been laid.  Ronald Joseph MacDonald, 66, of London, has been arrested and charged with one count of second degree murder.

"The victim and the accused were known to each other," police said.

This is London's sixth homicide of the year.
