Police deem death of Woodstock woman suspicious

Woodstock police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman found after she was reported missing.

Last Thursday, the Woodstock Police Service issued a missing person's report for 30-year-old Karen Cunningham. Police have not specified where or when Cunningham was last seen but said she is known to drive a 2010 black Mazda 3.

On February 3, shortly before 1:30 p.m., police alerted residents of a road closure due to an active investigation in the area of Mill Street and Sixth Avenue. Woodstock police later confirmed that Cunningham had been found dead inside the Mazda near the residential area.

Officers working on the investigation announced Tuesday afternoon that police are treating Cunningham's death as suspicious. The Office of the Chief Coroner has been called to assist.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Woodstock Police Service at 519-537-2323 or leave an anonymous tip with Oxford Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.oxfordcrimestoppers.com.
