A stretch of Highbury Avenue south of London was closed Friday after a morning collision involving a passenger vehicle and a commercial garbage truck.
Elgin County OPP were called to the scene around 10:13 a.m. on Friday. The two vehicles collided while travelling along Highbury Avenue between Ferguson Line and Truman Line in Central Elgin.
There were four people inside the passenger vehicle at the time of the crash, and police say all of them were sent to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the garbage truck was unharmed.
Police remained at the scene as crews repaired hydro lines that were damaged as a result of this collision. Highbury Avenue remains closed between Thomson Line and Ferguson Line until further notice.
As a result of police investigation, a 57-year-old of Salford, Ontario has been charged with careless driving. Police have not confirmed which vehicle the accused was operating.
