Police watchdog investigating Woodstock altercation that sent one to hospital

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has been called to probe an incident in Woodstock that left a 36-year-old with significant injuries.

Woodstock police said they responded to the area of Dundas Street and Finkle Street on the night of March 14 with reports of an attempted assault.

At about 11 p.m., officers reportedly located a suspect about one block away at Peel Street and Reeve Street, and the individual was placed under arrest.

The suspect sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries at some point during the interaction. The person was taken to hospital and received medical treatment.

The SIU was notified of the altercation and has since invoked their mandate, according to police.
