Teens charged in weekend armed robbery

Two London teenagers are facing charges after a weekend armed robbery involving a knife and a gun.

According to London police, a teen made arrangements to meet with a former employer in a parking lot on Southdale Road East around 11 p.m. on Saturday. The employer and a friend showed up to the location in a vehicle.

The teen and a friend arrived, got into the vehicle, and demanded money, police said.

The pair were said to be armed with a knife and a firearm. A window in the vehicle was damaged during the robbery.

After getting personal property, the teens took off in an awaiting vehicle.

Police were called and given descriptions of the teens. Officers responding to the call found a group of teens nearby. One of them allegedly ran from police and resisted arrest.

No weapons were found, police said.

A 16-year-old has been charged with armed robbery and a 17-year-old has been charged with resisting arrest and failure to comply with an undertaking. The teens' names cannot be released due to their age.

Both of the accused are scheduled to appear in court in relation to the charges on May 1.
