London police locate "potentially hazardous" equipment during probe

City police called firefighters to a south London home Tuesday afternoon after potentially dangerous materials were found during an investigation.

At around 12:30 p.m., police were called to a property on Commissioners Road East near Huntington Drive for a disturbance. Shortly after officers arrived, two people were arrested as part of a drug and weapons investigation.

While searching the home, officers found unspecified materials and equipment they believed to be hazardous. As a result, members of the London Fire Department were called to assist in determining if the objects posed as any immediate threat to public safety.

No other details have been provided as police officials say the investigations is still in its early stages. A police presence will likely remain on scene through Tuesday evening and into Wednesday morning.

Late Tuesday evening, police say they have searched the area and confirmed there is no threat to public safety.

Police have also not specified the charges laid against the pair who were arrested.
