Family dog rescued from Glen Cairn house fire

The London Fire Department responded to a blaze in the city's southeast end Wednesday and rescued a pet they say is now "doing well."

Crews were on the scene near Burlington Street and Cleveland Avenue just before 1:30 p.m. It was confirmed via Twitter that the fire started in the kitchen of the home and had already "burnt itself out."

During the primary search of the premises, firefighters were able to locate and rescue the family dog.

"We are happy to say the dog is doing well," said a spokesperson from the fire department.

No injuries were suffered as a result of this incident.

Damages have been estimated at just over $100,000.

The cause of the blaze has yet to be determined.

The scene is now in the care and control of London Fire Department investigators, who will work to identify the origin, cause and circumstance of the fire.
