Police investigate shots fired near east London motel

A heavy presence of armed officers was seen near an east London motel Wednesday afternoon due to a weapons investigation, according to police officials.

London police were called to the area of Dundas and Wavell streets at around 4:15 p.m. for reports of gunfire, destroying a business. Investigators say that when officers arrived on the scene, they discovered damage supporting the claim.

Traffic was rerouted between Wavell and Speight Boulevard for two hours while police were on scene. Heavy delays were reported in the area while police worked to search and secure the area. All roads have since been reopened.

Police determined the gunshots were caused by a pellet gun recovered in the area.

The investigation remains ongoing. However, no injuries or arrests have been made.

Anyone with information about the incident should call the London Police Service at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent online anonymously to London Elgin Middlesex Crime Stoppers.
