Pedestrian struck by vehicle downtown

A man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a collision early Sunday morning, according to London police.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Queens Avenue and Richmond Street around 3 a.m. where a pedestrian had reportedly been struck by a vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers learned that the vehicle involved in the crash had fled the scene.

The victim was taken to hospital in life threatening condition.

Police said a suspect was identified and arrested on Sunday.

"Additional details regarding charges laid will be released when available," said a statement from the London Police Service.

Richmond Street remained closed between Dundas Street and Fullarton Street as the Traffic Management Unit conducted their investigation.
