Break-in call nets police quantity of fentanyl

A call by an alert Londoner helped police foil a break and enter and seize a quantity of suspected fentanyl.

The citizen spotted damage to a fence and heard noise coming from within a facility on Nelson Street just east of Maitland Street around 9:40 p.m. on Monday and notified London police.

Officers arrived on scene to find a man exiting the secure compound. He was arrested.

A search of the man turned up a quantity of property from the facility and approximately $2,700 worth of suspected fentanyl, police said.

A 43-year-old London man has been charged with break and enter and theft and possession of drugs. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 16.
