Beating the summer-like heat will be no problem for London families this weekend.
The City of London announced on Friday eight of its 18 spray pads have reopened for the season. Londoners looking to cool down can head to the locations at Riverbend Park, Oakridge Optimist Park, Ed Blake Park, Bonaventure Meadows Park, Rowntree Park, Queens Park, Ivey Park, and South London Community Centre.
The remaining ten spray pads will be operational again by May 19 - the Friday heading into the Victoria Day long weekend.
Once opened for the season, the spray pads are operational daily between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. They are free to use and include sensors users push to activate water features.
A list of the city’s spray pads and their activation buttons can be found at london.ca/spraypads.
The opening of the spray pads comes as temperatures in the London region are above seasonal. Environment Canada is calling for sunshine all weekend with a daytime high Friday of 27 C and a high Saturday of 24 C. Temperatures will return to more seasonal levels on Sunday with a high of 18 C, before rising back to 23 C on Monday.
