An arrest warrant has been issued for a Windsor man accused of breaking into an event hall in Aylmer.
Aylmer police were called about the break and enter at the Knights of Columbus at 58 Beech Street just before 8 a.m. last Tuesday.
The investigation determined that someone pried open the rear door of the building and went inside. That person then attempted to steal money from the cash register, but it was empty. The suspect left the building without taking anything as the alarm system was sounding, police said.
Officers checked surveillance video from nearby businesses and homes to identify the vehicle involved. After speaking with the vehicle's owner, they were able to identify a suspect in the break-in.
A 32-year-old man from Windsor has been charged by way of warrant with break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence, possession of break in instruments, and driving while under suspension.
The man, whose name was not released, has not yet been arrested, police said.
