Residents of a dozen homes on Chiddington Avenue were displaced Thursday evening while fire crews addressed a natural gas leak.
According to fire officials, crews responded to a section of the residential street between Torrington Crescent and Chiddington Place due to the leak.
"12 homes [were] evacuated as a precaution and fire crews are doing air monitoring," read a tweet from the London Fire Department.
It is not clear what led to the leak. Enbridge Gas was called in to shut off the gas and firefighters remained on scene until around 9:30 p.m. to assist with the situation.
The fire department said residents were displaced for about 90 minutes while workers stopped the leak.
"A shout out to the residents on Chiddington Ave. affected by the natural gas leak tonight," read an update from the fire department. "Thank you for your patience [and] understanding to make sure fire crews and [Enbridge Gas] could handle this event safely."
No injuries were reported.
