A 38-year-old man is facing charges after London police officers were threatened with a large metal wrench over the weekend.
London police were called about a disturbance on English Street north of Dufferin Avenue around 4:15 a.m. on Sunday. When officers arrived, a man walked out of the home carrying what appeared to be a wrench and smashed the hood of a car in the laneway. The man then reportedly began making threats toward officers and civilians in the area.
The man refused to drop the weapon and continued to walk toward officers in an "assaultive manner" while making threats, police said.
The man resisted arrest and ended up being tasered before police finally took him into custody.
No injuries were reported.
A weapon was seized, police said.
