London police have charged a man with several drug-related offences after a call about a suspicious-looking vehicle that appeared to have gunshot damage Wednesday morning.
Police said they received a complaint at around 9:50 a.m. about a questionable-looking SUV in the area of Princess Avenue and Elizabeth Street.
When officers arrived on scene, they located the vehicle in question and a man inside it. A large, unspecified quantity of drugs was seized during a search, and the suspect was arrested without incident, police said.
While responding to the incident, evidence of firearm damage to the SUV was observed. As a result of the discovery, the investigation has since been turned over to members of the London Police Service’s Guns and Gangs Section.
Investigators are asking the public to check video surveillance, if they have it, for footage that could help with the probe. Police said the vehicle involved is a black, four-door SUV.
A 39-year-old London man has been charged with three counts of possession of a Schedule One substance for trafficking, and one count each of possession of a three and four substance for trafficking.
Schedule One substances include opioids, while Schedule Three and Four substances include drugs such as psychedelics and barbiturates (depressants), respectively.
The accused has since been released from custody with a future court date of August 11.
