Suspect identified in violent east London robbery investigation

London police are thanking the public for help in identifying a man believed to have committed a violent robbery at an east-end grocery store earlier this month.

According to police, the man walked into the store on Oxford Street East, near Highbury Avenue North, around 9 a.m. on June 19. He proceeded to grab items off the shelves and then left without paying for them.

A store employee stopped the man and began speaking to him about the stolen items. During that conversation the man is alleged to have assaulted the worker before running from the area.

The store employee suffered minor injuries, police said.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to call police at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
