Charges have been laid after an alleged disorderly man helped himself to a drink and made death threats against an employee at a fast-food restaurant in Aylmer.
The incident began around 4:30 a.m. last Tuesday when a man went to the local McDonalds and made a mess outside of the building. He then walked inside and took a drink from the pop dispenser without paying, Aylmer police said.
When an employee asked the man to leave, he began making several death threats while holding a folded knife in his hand.
The man then left, only to return the next day. Police were called and the man was arrested a short distance from the restaurant.
No injuries were reported.
A 52-year-old Leamington man has since been charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats to cause death, and theft under $5,000.
He made a court appearance following his arrest where he was remanded into custody, police said.
