It's good news for people already thinking about a winter getaway.
The London International Airport announced on Monday Air Transat will be offering its winter flights and vacation packages between the forest city and Cancun, Mexico and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic earlier than normal. Non-stop weekly flights to both destinations will begin on November 5. They will then ramp up to twice weekly in December and continue until the end of April 2024.
"We are thrilled to see Air Transat extend their winter season in London for the first time,” Scott McFadzean, president and CEO of the London International Airport, said in a statement. “Cancun and Punta Cana have always been popular destinations from our airport with Air Transat. With flights now starting in early November and extending through the end of April, there is more capacity available to support the growing demand for this great service."
The weekly flights to Cancun will run on Saturdays, with the second weekly flight being added on Thursdays beginning on December 21. For those interested in a trip to Punta Cana, weekly service will run on Sundays with the additional flight taking off on Fridays as of December 22.
"These highly sought-after sun destinations have always been popular among travelers from London, and we are thrilled to extend our winter season to meet the growing demand," said Air Transat's Chief Revenue Officer Michèle Barre. "With convenient access to these beautiful beach destinations, our Ontario customers can enjoy a memorable vacation filled with stunning natural beauty, vibrant culture, and unforgettable experiences."
