SIU investigating London woman’s fall from downtown apartment

The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate after a woman seriously injured while she was being pursued by London police.

According to the SIU, at around 10:45 a.m. Monday, London police attended a residence in the area of Dundas and Adelaide streets to arrest a woman with an outstanding warrant.

London police allege the woman tried to flee from officers, resulting in her falling from a second-storey apartment unit, the SIU said.

The woman was located on the ground below the apartment and was taken to hospital with a serious injury.

No other details have been provided.

The SIU is an independent government agency that investigates the conduct of police officers that may have resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault, and a firearm being discharged at a person.
