Reimagine's sustainability initiatives receive $48K grant

London's Reimagine Institute for Community Sustainability (RICS) celebrated its fifth anniversary with a summer market, giveaways, and a $48,000 grant.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) awarded RICS the grant through the Resilient Communities Fund, in an effort to support their sustainability initiatives.

London North Centre MPP Terence Kernaghan was at Saturday's anniversary event. He said he was thrilled that the RICS was being recognized.

"The Reimagine Institute is a unique London organization, focused on helping people to live more sustainable and connected lives. Their important programming promoting the protection and preservation of the environment is in critical need now more than ever," he said.

RICS is known in the community for programs such as Thing Library, Repair Café, and the package-free grocery store operated by its sister social enterprise Reimagine Co.

With the grant, the organization plans to broaden its community outreach and impact.

"This grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation is a testament to the critical work we’re doing in sustainability and waste reduction," said Heenal Rajani, President of RICS.

"As we celebrate our 5th anniversary, we're excited about what lies ahead in further serving our community," he added.
