UPDATE: $100K worth of stolen golf carts found in field

The Belmont Golf Club has its stolen golf carts back.

The 13 gas powered golf carts, valued at $100,000, were snatched from the Ferguson Line golf course just after 5 a.m. Tuesday. The theft prompted Elgin OPP to issue a plea for the public's help in finding the carts and suspects involved.

On Wednesday morning, police announced all of the missing carts had been found "stowed away" in a corn field not far from the golf club.

"With the assistance of the public, the golf carts were recovered and returned to the owner," police said.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call police at 1-888-310-1122or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
