London teen charged with vehicle theft, resisting arrest

A 17-year-old London boy is accused of stealing a vehicle from the northwest end of the city and resisting arrest.

London police received a report of a vehicle being stolen from a business in the area of Wonderland Road North and Lawson Road just after 7:30 p.m. last Friday.

The stolen vehicle was found at a home near Sarnia Road and Chapman Court.

Officers with the police canine unit were brought in to search the area and arrested a 17-year-old suspect a short distance away.

The teen was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries and was released shortly after, police said.

He has since been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, and failing to comply with release order. He was scheduled to appear in court in relation to the charges on Wednesday.

The teen's name cannot be released due to his age, police said.
