An early morning crash northeast of Tillsonburg has claimed the lives of two teenagers.
Oxford OPP, firefighters, and paramedics were called to the single-vehicle collision on Cornell Road at Furnace Road in Norwich Township just after 12 a.m. on Friday.
The initial investigation by police has determined seven people were in a vehicle that ended up leaving the roadway and rolling. One of the passengers was ejected during the crash and several others were left trapped inside, police said.
An 18-year-old from Brantford was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 16-year-old from Mount Pleasant died in hospital. Both were passengers of the vehicle.
The driver and four other passengers were also taken to hospital. The extent of their injuries was not released.
The OPP traffic incident management and enforcement team was on scene for several hours investigating the cause of the crash. Cornell between Furnace and Ninth roads and Furnace between Cornell and New roads were closed for an extended period of time. Both have since reopened.
The investigation is ongoing.
