Police are looking for a suspect after a Pride flag was ripped from its pole outside of an Aylmer home.
Video surveillance of the theft shows a man in a cowboy hat jumping out of the passenger side of a vehicle in front of the home on Beech Street West just before 3:30 a.m. on Sunday. He then runs to the home, pulls the flag down and runs back to the awaiting vehicle with it. The vehicle is then seen speeding away.
The man is described as being in his late teens or early twenties. He was wearing jeans, a plaid shirt, and a cowboy hat.
Aylmer police posted video of the theft on its Facebook page in hopes someone will be able to help police identify the suspect.
The theft came just four days after a man trying to steal the same flag was scared off by a barking dog. That incident happened around 10:30 p.m. last Wednesday. The suspect was described as wearing blue jeans, a black jacket, and had a black bandana covering his face. He also had a faded black backpack, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 519-773-3146 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
