A would-be shoplifter was thwarted by London police officers who were already inside the store the man was allegedly trying to steal from.
The man walked into a business, which police did not name, in the area of Dundas Street and Clarke Road around 9 p.m. on Thursday. He then allegedly proceeded to steal property.
London police officers, who were inside the store on an unrelated matter, were notified and arrested a suspect without incident.
The stolen property was recovered and a search of the suspect turned up a quantity of drugs and bear spray, police allege.
No injuries were reported.
A 32-year-old London man has been charged with nine offences including theft under $5,000, possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited weapon contrary to a prohibition order, breach of probation, and failure to comply with release order.
The man is scheduled to appear in London court on Friday, police said.
