If you haven't got your winter coat and snow boots out yet, you'll want to find some time to do that Monday.
Environment Canada has issued a snow squall watch for London, eastern Middlesex County, and Oxford County, warning the areas could see their first significant lake effect flurries and snow squalls of the season develop Monday night.
The bulk of the snow is likely to fall throughout the day on Tuesday. The London-area could see 5 centimetres due to heavy flurries, but if the squalls materialize that accumulation total could go as high as 10 -15 centimetres.
"Although the snow could be very heavy at times, the lake effect snow bands are expected to meander somewhat. This should limit accumulations at any given spot," Environment Canada said in a statement.
During the intense snowfall, visibility could be significantly reduced and roads, sidewalks, and parking lots could become difficult to navigate because of the accumulating snow. Drivers are advised to adjust their speed accordingly and leave extra time to get where they are going.
In addition to the snow, strong winds will make it feel much colder outside. Environment Canada is forecasting the low Monday night to fall to minus 8 C, but feel like minus 18 C with the wind chill. The frigid conditions will continue Tuesday with a high of only minus 3 C that will feel like minus 15 C in the morning and minus 10 C in the afternoon.
Snow squalls will weaken by Tuesday night.
