London Public Library hit by apparent cyber attack

What officials are calling a "cyber incident" has left the London Public Library unable to provide many of its services, and led to the temporary closure of some branches.

The library announced on social media Thursday morning that it is experiencing a a systems outage that "appears to be the result of a cyber incident."

"We expect that it could take some time to restore our systems," a post on the library's "X" (formerly Twitter) account said. "Experts have been engaged and investigations are underway."

Library officials say that, for now, the library's website, online catalogue, computers, wifi, digital resources, and the option of placing holds are not available.

The Carson, Glanworth and Lambeth are closed until next week.

"Updates and information will be shared through the Library’s social media," the social media post said. "We thank Londoners for their patience and understanding."
