Two new public schools with childcare centres are coming to London.
The Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) announced Friday that construction tenders have been awarded for two elementary schools.
D. Grant Construction Ltd. receives the tender for the new school in northwest London, which will be built with another $9.1-million in funding. The southwest-end school will be built by K&L Construction Ltd, with an additional $8-million.
The northwest-side school will have a capacity of 802 students, plus childcare for 88 licenced spaces. At the southwest London school, there will be space for 804 students, plus 88 licenced childcare spots.
"Enrolment in our board is growing now more than ever," said TVDSB Director of Education Mark Fisher. "We want to thank the Ministry [of Education] as well as our municipal and community partners for their support. Thames Valley will continue to work hard to meet the needs of students and families. I sincerely believe these schools and child care centres will have a lasting positive impact."
Both schools are expected to open in time for the 2025-26 school year.
