Man charged after stolen vehicle crashes in east London

A London man has been charged in a crash involving a stolen vehicle that left two people, including himself, with serious injuries.

Emergency crews were called to the two-vehicle collision in the area of Veterans Memorial Parkway and Dundas Street just after 6:30 a.m. on Saturday. One driver suffered serious, life-threatening injuries, while the other sustained serious, non-life threatening injuries. Both were taken to hospital for treatment.

London police officers investigating the crash determined one of the vehicles involved had been stolen earlier that morning.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, a 23-year-old man from London is now charged with six offences including dangerous driving causing bodily harm, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, driving while prohibited, driving while suspended, breach of probation, and failure to comply with an undertaking.

The man is scheduled to appear in London court in relation to the charges on February 29.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed or has dash-cam footage of the crash to call them at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
