London woman faces assault and weapon charges

A London woman has been arrested after a violent incident south of the downtown core.

London police responded at around 4 a.m. Friday to the area of Wellington Road and McClary Avenue, on a weapons call.

When officers arrived, they found a woman with stab wounds. She was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.

The investigation determined that the victim and suspect were known to each other.

The suspect was found a short distance away, and a knife was found on her.

A 30-year-old woman has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon, and failure to comply with a release order.

The charges have not been proven in court. The woman will have a chance to respond to the charges on Wednesday in a London court.
