London teen charged after replica gun flashed at security guard

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested following a weapons investigation.

According to police, at around 8:45 p.m. on Friday a security guard was working at a store on Fanshawe Park Road East, just east of Richmond Street, when a group of boys began causing a disturbance.

When the security guard approached the group, one of them allegedly displayed a handgun.

One of the youths removed a piece of equipment from the security guard and the group ran from the store.

There were no reported injuries.

After receiving a description of the suspects, officers arrested them on a bus on Richmond Street.

The stolen property and a replica firearm were found in a search during the arrest.

As a result of the investigation, a 15-year-old male, who cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of imitation weapon.

Five other youths were released unconditionally.

The accused is expected to appear in London court on April 15.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
