Huron County Officials React To Region-Leading OCIF Funding Total

Huron County benefited significantly from the formula used to calculate payments under the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund.

Communications Coordinator Scott Currie told county councillors this week, Huron County would be receiving $690,600 from the fund, which doles out about $100-million to provincial municipalities.

Regionally, Huron County finished first in OCIF funding, behind Grey County ($324,500), Bruce County ($156,100) and Perth County ($125,300).

Huron County officials say there are a few conditions for the funding, the county has to spend the money within a year and there are some reporting requirements. But other than that, the county can choose what projects the money will be spent on.
