The Business Superintendent for the Avon Maitland District School Board had some good news for trustees this week.
Janet Baird-Jackson announced the revised estimates showed an increase in enrolment in both the elementary and secondary level.
Baird-Jackson explains enrolment numbers have started to rebound at the elementary level, and the influx of international students has bolstered numbers at the secondary level, which means increased revenue.
Baird-Jackson also points out there were increased expenses in hiring more teachers for the additional students, but over all there was still an increase in revenues.
Baird-Jackson says between now and the end of the school year, a number of things could change. While this is the second of three estimates they do throughout the year, the board has an excellent track record for projections compared to actuals at the end of the year.
She is confident this revised estimate will be fairly close to their year-end position.
