Lake Huron Specialist Expects Rising Water Levels

One of the specialists with the Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation expects water levels in the Great Lakes to continue to rise this spring.

Geoff Peach says water levels traditionally drop between July and February and then begin to rise again as the snow melts. But this year levels have remained stable, even though ice cover this winter on the lakes is not what it was last year, and that should mean more evaporation.

Peach says levels have started to drop slightly, but without the traditional drop in the fall, levels will start to rise again soon.
